We are currently looking for GIS Manager on a contract basis to work for a major Engineering consultancy in the Birmingham area leading a team of GIS Analyst, GIS Technicians and GIS Project Coordinators.
You will act as the GIS Workstream Leader to work alongside the GIS Technical Lead and other Workstream Leaders to deliver the GIS requirements for the HS2 Phase 2a project. This role will focus on the management of the team, ensuring resource requirements are known and in place, and ensuring delivery of outputs to programme, budget and quality. Within the position you would undertake the coordination of a team of technical GIS specialists to deliver a wide range of datasets across a number of delivery workstreams (ERD, ecology etc) to meet programme and quality requirements. This will also be a client focusing role in which you will also interface with HS2 Phase 2a Senior Leadership Team and other workstream leaders to identify requirements and manage and prioritise resources accordingly.
For this position the role is would be split between 70% management and 30% technical so someone from a strong GIS project management background would be suitable with the following experience:

- Able to establish project requirements and implement these
- Manage the team and other teams within the project.
- Ensure that the outputs meet the requirements
- Quality Assurance a key element the recruiting managers are looking for
- Capable of tracking lessons learnt
Job Requirements
- Track record in Quality Assurance and review processes for GIS and related deliverables.
- Project management skills, experience of working to challenging programmes, working within allocated budget, and prioritising tasks
- Resource management skills: allocation of the appropriate resources (time and skills), proactive management of people issues and wellbeing.
- Experience in delivering projects, at a senior level.
- Strong background in ArcGIS
- Working knowledge of FME
