Multi Disciplined Team Leader in Widnes, Cheshire, United Kingdom
A Multi-Disciplined Operator Team Leader is required to work on a NEW long-term prestigious contract with a leading Rail Company at their new Technology Centre in Widnes. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable rail experience, whilst adding to your skillset.
Purpose of the Role
A new internal/external rolling stock refurbishment project is due to start in May 2019 and will consist of 27 Locomotives, involving 70 vehicles. This is a major overhaul working parallel with an existing project in our clients new Technology Centre. We already have an 80 strong team on site, but will be adding a further 20 personnel specifically to this exciting new project. The contract will consist of a full external re-spray of the train. Spraying panels both in-situ on the train car as well as parts which have been removed from the main carriage, stripped and prepped ready for painting. The interior refurbishment will consist of removal and re-installation of new and improved items.
Hours / Shifts:
90 hours over a two week period. Day shift pattern, working one weekend out of two.
Rate:
£17.14 per hour for all hours worked, through a limited or Umbrella company.
Location:
Based in Widnes, this brand new train care facility opened in 2017. Excellent road links to the motorway system and local areas
Start / Finish Dates:
06th May 2019 until May 2020.
Duties:
Team Leader Responsibilities:
* Lead all aspects of the team to meet project requirements
* To deliver Start of Shift and End of Shift Briefiengs to team members.
* To be responsible for the deployment of team members in line with the shift throughput requirements.
* Co-ordinate line of route ensuring that equipment, tooling and work environment is left in a safe place.
* Ensure all documentation and procedures are at the correct revision and signed off in full when completed. Completion of the shift paperwork 100%
* Deputise for Operations Manager as required to ensure business needs are maintained.
* * Leading and prioritising workloads agreed with the Operations Manager.
* Ensure that the team follow the standard processes and work to the standard on the job.
* Be proactive in co-ordinating material, tooling, line side checks and resource.
* Carry out audit of processes to ensure feedback from team members to continually improve the process or procedures.
* Carry out in process quality inspections and tests.
* Lead by example by being visible and behave in line with the values of the business.
* Support the Operations Manager in proactively working towards a reduction in Non Value Added (NVA) activities.
* Support the team to identify process changes and implement smarter ways of working.
Multi Disciplined Operator Responsibilities:
* Work as directed by and in co-operation with the Operations Manager.
* Operate as a member of team and perform the duties required.
* Carry out internal refurbishment scope of work including wiring installation (training provided).
* Carry out mechanical component exchange.
* Carry out surface preparation sanding and brush painting.
* Minor overhaul of electrical components (push buttons)
* Opportunity to undertake shunting activities to assist in movement of rail vehicles (as part of a rail movement's team).
* Carry out final work and process inspections as required.
* Maintain good housekeeping within the working area.
* Understand and abide to safety notices, rules and regulations and follow safe working practices, H&SAW and COSHH.
Qualifications Required:
Time served apprenticeship or equivalent with associated technical qualifications (City & Guilds, SVQ, NVQ Level 3) or recognised equivalent.
Experience Required:
* Team Leader / Supervisory experience
* Background in Electrical & Mechanical engineering.
* Able to act as a member of a multi-disciplined team (flexibility around team roles).
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Able to work on own initiative where required.
* Good judgement and decision-making capability.
