Working within a prestigious Manufacturing organisation leading a Team of Technicians Testing New High Value Capital Equipment in the UK.

THE COMPANY

Their UK operation employs around 1000 people covering existing and start-up operations spanning eight locations including several depots across the country including a vast manufacturing facility here in the UK.

The company have secured a number of high profile orders with full lifecycle maintenance contracts to manufacture and maintain over 200 brand new trains and as a result, will look to increase their headcount to 2000 by 2020 to meet the demands of these contracts.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You’ll be a strong leader and motivator with a drive for continuous improvement. Leading your team to success by being the Best Test Team in the UK. You’ll be experienced in a testing environment, ideally within a start-up new manufacturing or test facility.

ABOUT THE JOB

You will lead and motivate your team to delivering testing of New Products to the correct standards to achieve testing KPIs on production delivery, quality, resource utilisation, finance, downtime, safety.

Managing failure investigations and working closely with Manufacturing, Production, Design Engineering, Suppliers of Equipment and Test Equipment / Services to support continuous improvement of the product with the use of sound technical detail regarding issues arising from the test programme. You will provide support to the Test Manager to drive a continuous improvement culture both in respect of the product and the testing processes and procedures.

You will also effectively plan and communicate daily workload targets to the team and individuals and utilise/coordinate available labour and resources (including test tools, equipment, facilities, materials and consumables) to meet the test delivery plan and lead daily communication meetings.

Lead and coordinate the capture of test data, collation and analysis of results and investigation into any failures or abnormal test results or trends.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Educated to HND level in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent qualified engineer.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH trained (advantageous).
  • Supervisory experience ideally in a testing/production/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the start-up of a new manufacturing or test facility is an advantage.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • An understanding of lean processes and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge & understanding of ISO 9000 principles.
  • Ability to interpret test results and to conduct failure investigations.
  • Commitment to working as part of a team
