Train Test Leader / Managers (engineering perspective) X5 required for major testing schedules, based Derby with some travel expected, up to 12 months £neg
Working with one of the region's largest employers who are now embarking on the busiest and most successful periods in their long history. You will help deliver some of the most technically advanced vehicles of their type, all designed developed and manufactured in Derby.
Job Content Specifications.
To successfully execute a test and daily test event logs, as described in the project specific test specification.
Execute tests as described in the Test Specifications:
*Execution of a test following the methodology and procedure defined in the test specification
*Day to day management of a specified test train
*Before the start of testing each day the Test Engineer shall ensure that all instrumentation and equipment is available
*Interpret and analyse results taken during the test. If any test results are outside the permitted range or if any unexpected event occurs, a decision to complete test should be made
Management of on train activities & Staff:
*Ensure that all pre-test paper work has been completed
*Ensure that all staff are briefed on what test is going to occur
*Ensure that all TPRs (issues raised on test) and events are documented correctly
Interface with Project engineers to :
*Understand the global test strategy & integration into the project plan
*Ensure a test is executed as described in each test specification
Propose future development of the test review process.
Able to review and judge the suitability of solutions and the planned approach and has coached new practitioners in this field
Has championed the introduction of novel techniques and ideas which have produced measurable improvements
has contributed to best practice
Able to identify and manage complexity with appropriate techniques in order to reduce risk
Able to predict result behaviour
Able to define systems boundaries and external interface
Able to assess the interaction between humans and systems systems and systems
Able to guide engineering practitioners
Qualifications & Functional Knowledge
Typically minimum 5 years relevant experience with an Engineering/Technical qualification
Demonstrated experience in planning, testing and test planning ideally within Rolling Stock Validation and Verification, Reliability & Safety
Leadership - Management or Technical works independently through the application of acquired knowledge, precedent and judgement based upon standard procedures. Ability to improve existing/define new standards procedures
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; will direct the work of other staff members and/or directly manage operational teams.
The ideal candidate should be proactive & confident in his/ hers abilities and with very good interpersonal skills. Always looking for continuous improvement of processes and tool.
Problem Solving complex problems; analyses possible solutions using technical experience and judgement, experience in trouble shooting & fault finding
Demonstrates sound and comprehensive communication
Provide full engineering support on portion of larger/several projects or assignments
