SPL Powerlines are currently working on a large joint venture with Carillion, namely the Midland Mainline Electrification Project. As the projects picks up pace we are looking to recruit a candidate for the role Buried Services Coordinator.

The Buried Services coordinator will support the Construction Engineer in managing the site and contractors (including all CDM and all Health and Safety issues). To ensure that the installation is to specification, progress is monitored and work is carried our safely in accordance with applicable legislation, rules and standards.

Also responsible for the control and updating of service drawings. Carry out compliance monitoring on site to ensure standards are met. Checking and authorising permits.

The candidate:

Experience within this role would be preferred although support will be provided. At present we will consider applications from graduate engineers.

This is a full time vacancy located predominately at our Derby offices.

Responsibilities:

The role provides support in providing a robust methodology of planning work involving breaking ground, this will encompass review of designs to mitigate and plan avoidance of buried services, arranging DSS and detailed methodologies to positively locate buried services, and safe digging methods to relocate, isolate or avoid buried services in construction.

The Buried Services Coordinator will also act as the nominated person in respect of developing and approval of permits to dig to allow work to commence. The role extends to updating DSS and other drawings for final completion and handback to Network Rail and 3rd party utilities suppliers.
