Job Title - Project Engineer (Building Services)

Location - Swindon (Western House)

Rates - Up to £400.00 per day


About the role / project:
The Project Engineer's focus will be to work with all of the following installations:

• Lighting
• HVAC
• Building management systems
• Low voltage (BS7671)

What you will do:

• You will ensure Building Services projects are compliant to relevant standards and legislation and are delivered to programme and cost.
• The role will predominately be based in Swindon, but it will involve working at various project offices throughout the region to support project activities.
• Your expertise as a Project Engineer will enable you to implement Network Rail systems and procedures to maintain a cost effective, high quality, safe and environmentally responsible approach to relevant projects.
• Your experience will also enable you to liaise with regulators and others as appropriate.
• A key part of this role will be to monitor specific projects managed by Infrastructure Investment so that they are engineered to the standards and specification of Network Rail.
• You will manage all engineering activities so that they result in schemes that are affordable and meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
• You will monitor design and specialist consultants and contractors, providing project management advice in respect of all construction activities, including testing and commissioning and site supervision.
• You will manage elements of relevant projects to meet the requirements of current legislation, including construction design management regulations.
• You will also arrange an audit of contractors to monitor safety, environment and quality of design, construction and testing.

Your experience will include:

Essential

• Successful relevant experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects across multi discipline areas.
• Technical qualifications to HNC/HND or equivalent GNVQ level.
• Knowledge of quality assurance.
• An understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of work.
• CDM, risk assessment, auditing internal and external competency.
• CITB CSCS scheme.

Desirable

• Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
• Knowledge of structuring safety cases in support of projects.
• An appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works.
• Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
• Project safety management experience
• Yellow book course.
