MPI are currently recruiting for Permanent Rolling Stock Service Engineer - Level 3 based at Slade Green

Shifts: Yes – 4 on, 4 off – Days and Nights

Hours 35 per week

About you:

• Experienced in an engineering discipline (skilled mechanical and electrical work)
• NVQ 3 in engineering maintenance, electrical, mechanical or equivalent
• Hold a Technical Certificate in Engineering BTEC
• Have intermediate IT skills and able to interpret data
• Able to carry out first level fault finding and follow schematics and diagrams
• Previous rolling stock maintenance experience desirable.

Working here

You will work 10 hours a day in a roster of 4 days on and 4 days off alternating between days and nights. Typical shifts are 8AM – 6 PM or 6:30 PM – 4:30 AM, with paid breaks. You must have your own transport to get to and from your place of work.

Purpose of the Job

Responsible for carrying out repairs, examination work and second Level fault finding as directed by the Production Delivery Engineer/Line Manager, working safely and effectively with the team at all times, to the required standards and specifications

Principal Accountabilities

1 Comply with Safety systems and procedures

2 Carry out examinations on trains for faults.

3 Carry out repair work and routine maintenance on trains to Specification

4 Carry out mechanical inspection and gauging

5 Carry out component changes / heavy lift as required.

6 Complete any paper work/EMS tasks required.

7 Carry out electro-mechanical testing of units as part of routine examining.

8 Carry out fault finding and diagnosis.

9 Create scopes of work

10 Provide secondary (in depth) fault finding, including investigation into repeat failures.

11 Follow schematics and diagrams.

12 Undertake off depot duties as required, Railing, Man in Van etc

13 Provide post-incident testing service, brakes, doors, WSP and Traction etc.

14 Use various on train defect analysis equipment, such as OTMR/TDS

15 Upload unit software onto rolling stock as required.

16 Ensure that standards are met and procedures are followed.

17 Manage and prioritise own workload, when required.

18 Input appropriate data to IT systems

19 Deputise for PDE as required.

20 Operate plant and machinery passed competent to use
