Purpose of the Job
This role is to provide a high quality Technical Support service for the Electrostar fleets to Engineering and all other directorates within Southeastern. This is achieved by focussing on issues and trends which affect the overall performance of the rolling stock (including safety, reliability and passenger satisfaction), carrying out technical investigations and making recommendations to address the identified causes. The recommended changes then need to be implemented effectively to resolve the issue.

Provide a Technical support service to Engineering and all directorates within Southeastern.
Complete technical investigations into reported issues and trends, highlighting immediate and underlying causes and making recommendations. The investigation is to be documented and issued as a written report.
Develop and issue improvements to maintenance documentation or schedule, in the form of maintenance bulletins. Assist with technical briefs with the provision of written material to communicate technical information, and deliver briefs to Production as required.
Creating and developing fault-finding guides for common issues affecting the rolling stock.
Conduct trials and develop solutions to engineering problems highlighted by Technical Investigations, and implement these changes following the Engineering Change and Campaigns procedures.
Provide technical support to the Stores, Materials and Planning functions. Materials support to include confirmation or development of detailed technical specification as well assist in ILOC's upkeep.
Provide direction and technical advice regarding whether work can be deferred. Review and approve concession requests, and work with production and planning teams to document any concessions necessary to allow continued safe operation of the Southeastern fleet.
Provide an on-call Fleet Technical Officer (FTO) incident response service. Where necessary this may require attendance at-site for incident investigation or representation of Southeastern interests. Carry out formal investigations and reporting on incidents and mishaps. The post holder will report findings together with recommendations.
Deputise for the Electrostar Support Manager as and when required.
