Role: Chartered Advanced Structures Design Engineer
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000
I am looking to place a (near) Chartered Structural Design Engineer who has experience of designing advanced building structures in an international engineering consultancys Birmingham office. Examples of buildings of this nature would include the Governments newly approved Catapult Programme centres for innovation, research and manufacturing, MIRA Technology park and Laing ORourkes Explore Manufacturing park, all of which the firm have worked on.
More generic sector experience would be automated manufacturing plants, car manufacturing facilities, laboratories, Jaguar Land Rover facilities, indoor modular building fabrication facilities, aerospace manufacturing plants, metallurgy facilities, and more. Anyone with similar structural design experience would be of great interest to the firm.
The firm has been in operation for over 60 years and operates across all Civil and Structural Design sectors, operating throughout the UK, Australia and Asia. The firm has won numerous awards for its work for sustainability, architectural excellence and structural ingenuity.
In return for the right skillset, the firm are willing to offer a competitive salary and the opportunity to design and oversee construction of some of the largest and most cutting edge technological facilities currently in development as well as working directly with a range of high-profile industry leaders. Projects such as the Catapult Programme are shaping and driving innovation forwards across genetic research, advanced aerospace manufacturing and testing new energy systems. You will have direct involvement in ensuring these facilities are designed and constructed correctly.
The role will involve some travel, as most development sites will require visits in order to effectively adapt designs as well as meeting a variety of clients, with projects undertaken all over the UK and internationally.
Ideally, candidates will be Chartered with either the IStructE or ICE due to the design assurance and sign-off duties, as well as mentoring more junior staff in this area of design, though candidates with relevant industry experience are still highly sought after.
