Who we are
voestalpine VAE UK manufactures and supplies switches & crossings as well as other materials and services for Network Rail infrastructure, tramway, and light railway systems in the UK and in the Republic of Ireland. voestalpine VAE UK Limited operates two sites: one in Edinburgh, Scotland and one in Nottinghamshire, England. This position is located in Harworth, close to Doncaster.
Your Tasks
As a Design Engineer you will be responsible for producing 2D and 3D drawings using Microstation. You will also provide training and support to junior staff whilst developing standards within the team. The principal function of this position is to work within the team of design engineers producing designs and drawings of rail crossings, turnouts and other rail tracks installations. These drawings are to be checked and verified for the complete specification in order to produce bill of materials used in assembly.
CAD Engineer supports sales, manufacturing and customers with detailed product and specification knowledge. The essential task of this role is to produce accurate drawings and accompanying specifications for rail turnouts and crossings. Accuracy and attention to detail are prerequisites for this position. Daily tasks include:
- Production of detailed 1-50 scale layout drawings in 2D,
- Detailed documentation of technical specifications and manufacturing instructions
- Review and production of bill of materials,
- Timely delivery of technical information to supply chain,
- Technical support to sales department and customers,
- Attendance at design interface meetings with the client.
Your Profile
The candidate should have hands on approach to problem solving with "can do" attitude. The following skills and experiences will assure success in this position:
- Proficiency in CAD drawing using Microstation. (Knowledge of AutoCAD, Siemens NX or other drawing tools is sufficient to make transition to Microstation.)
- Prior experience in drawing rail tracks, turnouts or other steel based products.
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Office package.
- Ability to multi-task and meet the deadlines.
- Methodical and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills
- At least 5 years of experience in similar position.
