Design Lead
Location - Birmingham
Salary - £84,000 per annum plus 4 weeks annual leave, sick pay and a pension scheme
Project - HS2
As Design Lead you will:
- Be the responsible for the quality of design across Phase 2 with particular emphasis on ensuring designs are developed in accordance with HS2 Ltd's requirements and the Design Vision and championing good design;
- Capture lessons learnt from the previous phases and other best practice form across the wider industry;
- Be responsible for overseeing the consistent delivery of station designs that comply with HS2 Ltd's technical station requirements
- Be responsible for overseeing the consistent delivery of designs that comply with HS2 Ltd's technical requirements for Rail Systems, including line management and support of the Rail Systems Manager;
- Be responsible for overseeing the consistent delivery of designs that comply with HS2 Ltd's technical requirements for Permanent Way, including line management and support of the Senior Permanent Way Engineer;
- Ensure safety is a key priority in all aspects of the role;
- Ensure that all designs are carried out with safe construction and maintenance as a key priority; and
- Participate in CDM reviews, etc., as required, to ensure all CDM requirements are met.
- Support the area teams to deliver value for money solutions across Phase 2;
- Oversee the integration of design interfaces across phase 2b;
- Oversee the design assurance activity of the 2b project ensuring that HS2 Ltd assurance requirements are delivered consistently by the area teams;
- Regularly report on progress, issues and programme on all of the above.
- The role will support the area delivery teams in ensuring that the OIMD requirements are met by the hybrid Bill design and through into construction procurement.
- Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI;
- Manage the delivery of the design requirements by the PSC in accordance with the specification and requirements required by OIMD;
Requirements:
- Broad expertise in developing multi-disciplinary designs in a rail environment.
- Degree qualified Chartered Engineer with a demonstrable track record of succeeding in a similar role on a major rail or infrastructure project in a multi-disciplinary design and delivery environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of engineering / design matters, reporting and associated risk management.
