One of the UK’s most leading Railway Engineering organisations is currently heavily engaged in one on the UK most prestigious Rail development programmes and is in need of a detailed and experienced multi-discipline Design Manager to join their expanding project team based in west London.

Role & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Snr Programme Manager, you the Design Manager will be responsible for overseeing design teams delivery, taking accountability for quality and consistency of design output, professional development of the design team and ensuring that best practice processes are maintained or improved. As the Design Manager for this requirement you will be heavily involved in the successful execution of varied medium and large scale / high value civil design project requirements within the UK Rail sector.

A key responsibility for this Design Management role will include increasing efficiency, resource forecasting and programme management, technical support, close liaison with clients and their representatives together with attending sub-contractor and bid presentation meetings.

Requirements:

The successful Design Manager will possess excellent person management and motivation skills coupled with extensive railway systems engineering experience. You the Design Manager will have a will also have a strong appreciation of railway engineering interface, design management, resource planning, technical bid and tender support and be effective in resolving problems or issues.

For this position the appointed Design Manager will possess the following;

*Strong working design management appreciation with past working experience within a major project under NEC forms of contract

*Credible multi-discipline design management abilities and knowledge, consisting of P-Way, Civils, Stations, Building, Signalling and OLE

*Working experience with Designs, Design reviews, Design Co-ordination and Design integration, ability to effectively contribute in design review meeting, design house management, client and *Client and Stakeholder management

*Possessing working IDR / IDC experience

*Delivery focused, yet health and safety conscious

Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and build strong professional relationships with clients, colleagues and sub-contractors alike will be vital characteristics for the Design Manager within this role.

You will also be commercially; contractually, risk and delivery focussed and prove to be someone who can drive a design team to achieve deadlines whilst adhering to the company’s and industry’s guidelines.
