You could get the chance to work on multiple large-scale projects for one of the UK’s leading multi-disciplinary railway infrastructure contractors with over 70 years’ experience in both the heavy and light rail sectors!

Our client is dedicated on building on their solid reputation of successful delivery which has secured significant new work, and are looking for an experienced, driven Design Manager for their specialist rail division in the West Midlands.

ABOUT THE JOB

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design function within the business and managing the third-party design companies throughout the project lifecycle. Schemes of work you can expect to work on centre around multi-disciplinary civils rail projects including PWay, bridge refurbishments and OLE installation so you must have excellent rail knowledge and understanding as the rail industry is like no other!

IDEAL CANDIDATE

As an experienced Design Manager, you will know that the entire design process can be incredibly complicated. From approving initial designs, to signing off amendments and also having input to the tender & bid process, you must be able to keep a level head whilst juggling the client, consultancy and your own internal team. If you want to just get by in a job then this isn’t for you! Granted there are high expectations in this position, but it also comes with high rewards!

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Experience on rail projects - essential
• Experience managing design function/team
• Experience liaising with the client directly
• HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering (strong preference)
