Engineering Design Manager (Defence) in Glasgow, United Kingdom
Glasgow, United Kingdom |
£60000 - £100000 per annum, Benefits: Family Healthcare, Flexible Working |
Permanent
Role: Engineering Design Manager (Defence)
Location: Faslane / Glasgow
Salary: £60,000 - £100,000 (DoE)
I am looking to place multiple Engineering Design Managers at Senior and Lead levels in an international consultancy primarily overseeing their operations at Faslane in partnership with the Ministry of Defence with the ultimate goal being successful preparation of Faslane base and wider projects to support the Royal Navys Continuous At Sea Deterrence (CASD). You will ideally be a Chartered Engineer with experience of Civil, Structural, M+E, Building Services and Lifting Operations design management. You will likely have at least 10-15 years experience. You will primarily be based at Faslane with occasional design review meetings in Glasgow.
You will work with Operations Directors and Project Directors to manage engineering upgrade works that are being undertaken as part of the £1.3bn Clyde Submarine Base Framework. This project will likely keep you very busy for the next 10 years, with other work in Defence and Nuclear projects being incorporated as you settle into the role.
Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the upgrade works, the ideal individual will be able to coordinate designers from all engineering backgrounds covering projects such as Civil/Structural/M+E facility upgrades, ship lifts, berthing, sea walls, ports/jetties (including Electric Overhead Traveling cranes). You will lead engineering review meetings with other design leads to ensure effective and cost-efficient delivery of projects.
Ideally, all applicants will be Chartered Engineers with membership of a relevant body (ICE/IStructE/ potentially IMechE) with experience leading teams of designers on a wide variety of projects. Further, it would be advantageous if applicants had experience dealing with nuclear safety case engineers. The firm handles multiple projects with nuclear propulsion facilities, atomic weapons storage facilities and nuclear new build projects so experience in these areas would also be useful. Due to the nature of work, candidates will be required to obtain SC Clearance or transfer it.
In return for the right experience, the firm can offer a highly competitive salary, range of personalised benefits and the opportunity to work on a defence infrastructure project that will leave a legacy for decades.
