Fibre Network Design Engineer in Chester, Cheshire, United Kingdom
As Master Supply Partner, PSR Solutions are proud to be working in partnership with the UK arm of this leading international and multidisciplinary infrastructure construction company, specialising in the development and delivery of key infrastructure projects across the globe such as railway construction and systems, roads, tunnelling and fibre optic networks.
Having worked on a number of the UK's most prestigious Major Projects and Alliance Partnerships, they are currently focusing on the funding, design and construction of fibre networks in the UK, and are growing 3 UK regional hubs.
OVERVIEW:
They currently have an immediate requirement for a Fibre Network Design Engineer working. You will responsible for all essential details in the planning, design and deployment of Fibre Optic Networks, and providing drawings to support Permitting, Construction works and as built records.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical expertise in Optical drawing production work such as analysis, fiber optic network design, Sizing and dimensioning, topology layout, maps, fiber splice plans, cable duct and routing. The Design Engineer should take charge of different types and specifications of fibre optics and put into practice company, client and project design, and drafting standards.
- Provide technical expertise in Civils drawing production work such as construction drawings for civils sections, construction drawing for street cabinets. The design Engineer should have the knowledge of legislation and codes of practice for street works.
- To identify and rectify any issues related to permits, approvals and other matters that may affect the project. They should take into consideration surrounding environments and the physical terrain for any equipment installation.
- Responsible for building BoQs for all the material, equipment and components required for the Network Implementation. Assist in the physical implementation of the design to avoid any complications. Create a documentation process to address potential issues among technical staff during the installation process.
- Work in close coordination with the engineering and field personnel to deliver the project within the budget and stipulated time frame. Responsible for taking care of the schedules, budgets and project criteria for physical design and layouts. Organise and maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner.
- Respects and enforces the Group's Quality, Safety and Environment (QSE) instructions delivering "Safe By Design"
For this position, the ideal candidate should have the following skills, experience and knowledge:
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Telecoms Design, Geomatics, civils Engineering or related field.
- Proven and successful track record of Fibre Optic Network Design
- Knowledge of GIS, especially QGIS
- Knowledge of Database, especially PostgreSQL and PostGIS
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft office, Office 365, Sharepoint.
- Design principles, industry standards, and installation practices.
- General knowledge of the construction site and construction methods
- Understand budgetary control and resource allocation procedures.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Excellent written, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Good interpersonal and time management and proven stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent organisation and problem-solving.
- Enthusiastic about improving tools and processes
Desirable:
- Previous Highways/Street works knowledge
- Knowledge of Liverpool Local Authority areas and geography
