Our Client, a global technical professional services firm, now have an exciting opening in their Birmingham team for an OLE Design Engineer on a full-time, permanent basis. You will have the opportunity to work on some major projects such as HS2 and many more. There may also be opportunities for Overseas work in the future.

Principal responsibilities:

• To undertake any work of a technical nature that falls within the Jobholder’s ability and competence.
• To work at any position within a project team to achieve the project objectives.
• To supervise and check the work of junior staff and to take part in the professional development of those staff.
• Designer for all various types of Overhead Line design.
• Competent to work unsupervised and to supervise others; competent to sign off design certificates on behalf of the company.
• Conceptual outline and detailed design of engineering solutions, presentation of engineering options.
• Design of detail allocation and construction design.
• Design of the assessment on the OLE of horizontal and vertical track alignment schemes.
• Production of design concepts, drawings, specifications and other technical documents.
• Training and development, mentoring of junior staff.

Skills/Experience & Qualifications:

• OLE experience on Network Rail projects
• Conversant with the use of MS Office suite
• An understanding of the development of spreadsheets is essential.
• Familiarity with the production of drawings using Microstation CAD package
• BIM and 3D CAD in OLE Design essential
• HNC / HND in a relevant Engineering field
• Experience of legacy OLE systems ( MK1, UK1, MK3B)
• Experience of managing projects (desirable)
• Experience of Series 1 and 2 OLE eqpt. (desirable)
