An exciting opportunity for a Primary Electrical Design Engineer to undertake power cable, overhead structures, substation plant and layout design up to and including 132kV for Independent / Private Network Connections (ICP) and UK DNO s including UK Power Networks, Western Power Distribution and private network operators.

Have a detailed understanding of how power systems are constructed, operated, maintained and decommissioned.
Have a detailed understanding of power cable construction and installation methodologies.
Have a detailed understating of substation plant
Have an understanding of the design and construction methodologies for wood pole overhead lines up to 132kV and 66kV / 132kV steel lattice towers.
Have a working knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015 in relation to the role of the Designer.
Have existing demonstrable primary electrical design experience with regard to DNO networks operating up to 132kV.
Able to demonstrate ability to quickly acquire technical knowledge for changing technological advancements in energy service provisions.
Working knowledge of the appropriate UK legislation and standards.
Ideally be a corporate member of the IET and working towards IEng or CEng status.
The ability to take an outline project scope document, review and understand how this translates in to the detailed design requirements.
Possess a flexible approach to overcoming difficulties and getting the job done.
Provide mentoring to junior engineers.
Ability to analyse, take ownership and solve problems.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Fully proficient in the use of a proprietary CAD systems, i.e. AutoCAD / Bentley Microstation
Able to build and maintain strong external relationships.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent time management skills and flexibility.
The ability to demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge.
You will have:
Relevant, demonstrable industry experience essential.
Degree / HNC / HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline is desirable.
IOSH Managing Safely in Construction is desirable.
