Principal OLE Design Engineer

SPL Powerlines Group is delivering some of the largest and complex overhead line projects for Network Rail, due to increased workloads we are looking to recruit a Design Manager to join our team .

Full time minimum 39 hours per week.

Job Description:

Provide technical leadership in all aspects of electrification design including mechanical, electrical and civil engineering interfaces

Fulfil the role of Contractor’s Responsible Engineer

Identify gaps in software tools which could improve design efficiency and quality and develop those tools either in-house or via external suppliers

Produce design packages in a BIM environment

Manage the workload of direct reports

Deliver projects within the timescale and budget constraints

Implement assurance processes to ensure a high quality design output for all deliverables

Lead by example and implement a safe by design approach on all projects

Undertake the role of Project Manager if required

Minimum Requirements

Significant experience working on overhead line technical design

Detailed knowledge of Network Rail OLE systems such as Master Series, Series 1, Series 2 and OLEMI

Technical expert working on 25Kv systems including knowledge of earthing and bonding, switching and autotransformer systems

Experience of working in a client facing role

Detailed understanding of CAD and software tools

Excellent knowledge of the electrification and plant discipline

Experience of working on large multidisciplinary rail projects.

Preferred Qualifications

HND, BSc, BEng or MEng degree in Engineering

Chartered Engineer (or working towards) and member of a professional institution
