Ford & Stanley - The Railway Specialists are currently looking to recruit a Project Engineer with a Design focus with proven experience in Solidworks and Auto CAD within a heavy industryfor the UK's market leader in Electrification of tranport systems.

Role and Responsibilities

The role of the Design / Project Engineer is to liaise between the project manager and the technical disciplines involved in a project. The Design / Project Engineer is also the primary technical point of contact for the customer. Design and project engineering input is required at any stage of a project life cycle from tender / conception through specification, design, manufacture, test and commissioning, operations and maintenance.

A Design / Project Engineer's role will require them to develop designs using reasoned and intuitive judgement, creation of 2D drawings and technical documentation. From a project engineering perspective the role will include schedule preparation, pre-planning and resource forecasting for engineering and other technical activities relating to the project. The role is ensure projects are completed according to overall project plans. The individual must liaise with the relevant senior engineer who is responsible for the overall resource scheduling, which must tie-in to the project managers' project schedules.

• Responsible Engineer for specific contracts and thus manage engineering aspects of projects or elements of projects through to completion within engineering. Create technical design solutions to meet the customer's needs. Evaluate, organise and prioritise workload within a schedule.
• Manage all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements related to the design.
• Collaborating and liaising with designers and production to identify engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented. Review the output for each design and test work packages to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
• Interpretation and implementation of client / customer specifications to enable successful technical delivery of project.
• Lead the design and associated quality gate reviews for engineering projects within the business management system.
• Maintain a positive rapport with the clients and customers in relation to the projects you are responsible for.

Essential Skills

• 15+ years Design experience in a heavy engineering environment
• Proficient in CAD software
• Proficient in Solidworks
