Senior Signalling Design Engineer in UK, UK, United Kingdom
You will join our UK Rail Systems department
As our new Signalling Design Engineer or Senior Engineer, you will be part of an experienced team of Signalling Design Engineers and Consultants with offices in the UK as well as becoming part of the Global Spearhead for Rail Systems with offices throughout the world. You will be able to carry out design and design production checks on all aspects of Signalling systems as required, developing through the range of standard trackside equipment to more complex conceptual design work. Opportunity to work on ERTMS / ETCS projects, subject to experience / training, both in the United Kingdom and across Europe.
Our current project portfolio includes supporting a number of design frameworks, GRIP stages 3-8, within the UK for Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors as well as supporting projects, including ETCS, through Rail Systems Spearhead across the world.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
- To produce signalling designs whilst working on a variety of Signalling systems as required by the project demands
- Provide functional support and guidance as a Design Team Leader to the Assistant Design Engineer(s) and Design Engineer(s) within the team on all aspects of Signalling Design
- Assist with the training and development of the Signalling Design Team
- Preparation of technical details, specifications and tenders associated with Signalling projects
- Ensure technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of Signalling system work
- Discharge safety responsibilities in relation to CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation, company procedures and standards
- Project Manage work packages relevant to your level of experience

- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Hold a IRSE Design License - 1.1.510
- Hold an IRSE Signalling Design Verifier Licence - 1.1.160
- Experience in Railway Signalling practices and principles
- Membership of IRSE or other relevant Engineering Institution
- Proven experience with Micro-station, PLANS software
- Good time, task and people management skills
At Senior level:
- Proven experience of undertaking CRE responsibilities
- Hold an IRSE Signalling Principles Designer Licence - 1.1.550
