Job Summary
The Electrical Design Engineer – Installations will be involved in all technical activities related with the mechanical and electrical installations design of the rolling stock during the project lifecycle. This extends from requirements management, through design development, Design Review management, support materials procurement process, problems solving during production activities and validation of the design.
For this duty, the Electrical Engineer in UK will work closely with the company’s headquarters engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
1.0 Engineering
1.1 Lead the design team engineers in their activities to develop and delivery of high quality
engineering design work for Mechanical Installations (like underframe & roof equipment
assembly, electrical cabinets and inter-car connections) and Electrical Installations (like
definition of terminals and connectors, and wiring documentation overview), within defined
budgets and timescales.
1.2 Work closely with other project engineers to ensure proper coordination to achieve overall
design integrity.
1.3 Ensure designs are compliant to customer requirements and the applicable law and standards,
following the internal design verification and validation process. Requirements Management.
1.4 Lead Design Reviews (internal + external) for Mechanical and Electrical Installations. Prepare
the documentation, attend the meetings and follow up open Design Review items.
1.5 Assess tender submissions for technical merit and support, from the technical point of view,
procurement activities: work with suppliers to ensure designs are fit for purpose.
1.6 Project follow up and reporting for Mechanical and Electrical Installations.
1.7 Proactively working to contribute to a continuous improvement culture, raising opportunities for
improvement whenever these are identified.
1.8 Supports, from the technical point of view, industrialization and production teams during
manufacturing ramp-up and commissioning.
In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined, you must be prepared to undertake such additional duties which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity change the general character or level of responsibility to the post.Participate in team and one-to-one meetings, and undertake, as appropriate, training, relevant to the role as required.
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (BEng)
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Experienced (a minimum of 2 years) in railway (rolling stock) design and develop various mechanical and electrical installations parts, either new build, retro-fitment, modification or refurbishment.
