My client is recruiting for a Field Systems Engineer with electrical engineering and radio frequency experience to support their expanding business.
JOB PURPOSE
To undertake installation, demos and continued engineering and sales support, being resourceful to resolve problems and provide expert technical knowledge to the EMEA regional sales team and liaison with relevant engineering groups internally and externally.
Be innovative in application of technology as an individual, contributing to the success of the product and the team as well as professionally working with our customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
*Timely completion of work in a safe and professional manner.
*Accurate site surveys including necessary product, installation equipment, materials and time estimates.
*Safe, complete and professional system installation and configuration.
*Effective design or adjustments of brackets and other hardware to complete the demo / pilot installations.
*Conducting and / or assisting the sales team with technical aspects of product demonstrations.
*Answering customer questions and other support needs.
*Introducing new products in the EMEA regions.
*Completion of Service and Technical Bulletins.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
*Degree Qualified Engineer with relevant qualification and 5 years + experience.
*Experience of the Railway Industry
*Knowledge of Railway Safety Standards and legislation
*IT Literate - particularly Microsoft Office packages
*Software engineering experience
*Familiar with mechanical design and microprocessor circuit designs.
*Knowledgeable of industry standard hardware / software development principles and practices.
*Wireless networking design and development experience.
*CANBus network experience (SAE J1939 or CAN Open) and other fieldbus systems
*Experience with wired and wireless networking fundamentals.
*Experience with design or operation of on-track or construction plant
*Experience in electrical or electronic design.
*Experience of railway rolling stock engineering and operation
*Understanding of EU and UK rail legislation and standards
*Excellent English written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively across functions and levels, internally and with customers and suppliers.
DETAILED DUTIES
*To provide expert technical knowledge as required by the local EMEA sales teams, this will be in the form of written or verbal communications for example, you may create and review Service & Technical bulletins appropriate for the region.
*Install, configure and test Pilot / Demonstration units to assist the sales team in selling the products.
*Due to the product and unique customer specification of pilots, demonstrations and installations, you will be required to solve installation problems for example, creating or adapting brackets, modifying systems to run on batteries and / or coming up with a creative method of temporarily mounting a system in a safe and professional fashion to secure the sale. You may also be called upon to remove systems and leave the equipment in an agreed to state.
*As the local expert you will be asked to be the first line of technical knowledge and support, you will have backup from your colleges around the world.
*Combining your technical expertise with your first-hand customer interactions you will liaison between the customer, engineering and sales team including follow up and monitoring of systems installed.
*To comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental.
*Ensure that after any engineering or development work is done it is thoroughly inspected and left in a safe condition and in working order.
*Report any accidents/incidents in line with company procedure.
*Report any safety issues to the Engineering Director.
