Resident Electrical Engineer in City of London, London, United Kingdom

The Ideal Candidate:

- Ideally a Chartered electrical engineer - Extensive experience in designing and reviewing electrical systems - Detailed knowledge of codes, standards and specification methodologies - Excellent design liaison with the team and co-ordination skills - Knowledge and experience of Rail Station standards and procedures

We need someone with a "can do attitude" who is an expert at technical assurance (Electrical) and can help shape our projects from design to final implementation.

Role Scope

The job holder will provide a full electrical support service through to project completion. In addition, the job holder shall provide professional and technical support on electrical engineering issues to the project teams to ensure effective and efficient delivery of projects to time, budget and quality to meet the needs of the customer.

The job holder needs to liaise and work with project managers, project engineers and team members to successfully deliver projects within budget and to programme whilst ensuring that safety and quality is not compromised.

Knowledge

An Electrical Engineering Degree and/or Higher National qualifications (or equivalent), or demonstrable evidence of technical electrical design / installation experience. (Essential)

Member of a professional institution such as the IET or CIBSE (Desirable)

Knowledge of the rail industry standards, rules and regulatory environment. (Essential)

Knowledge of maintenance techniques and good industry practice (Desirable)

Knowledge of safety legislation and operating rules and regulations (Essential)

Knowledge and capability to undertake quality inspections and site investigations (Essential)

Understand the framework of the structured environment in which contractors are working (Essential)

Skills

Ability to analyse complex data, draw conclusions, produce reports and make recommendations to senior management (Essential)

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally (Essential)

Ability to use office based computer packages, e.g. MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) to basic level (Essential)

Ability to use electrical and lighting design computer packages, e.g. Amtech, Dialux etc. (Highly Desirable)

Experience

Experience of providing professional and technical advice, guidance and support on project engineering issues (Essential)

Experience of producing internal / managing lighting & LV power designs (Essential)

Experience of carrying out technical document review and analysis (Essential)

Experience of working on projects within the railway environment in particular underground railways (Essential)

Experience of building relationships with, and influencing, a range of people at all levels within and outside the organisation (Essential)

Experience of working in a construction or engineering environment (Essential)
