Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer for a global rail organisation based in Derby.
The Opportunity
We are working with the World's leading manufacturer of trains who are producing the next generation of rolling stock trains for a number of exciting projects. We have an opportunity for a Senior Electrical system engineer to become the main technical internal interface concerning functional architecture to Subsystem Engineering, TCMS and other architecture areas.
You will be a part of the project throughout the complete product life-cycle interacting with various stakeholders such as the system engineers, vehicle engineers, suppliers and the customer.
Location (s): Derby
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead the functional architecture team in railway rolling stock project or bid. Responsible to take key technical decisions concerning functional architecture including functional changes at vehicle level and approval of critical integration documents (e.g. requirements allocation, functional concepts, test plan).
- Ensure standardization by applying maximum extend of standardized vehicle function within railway rolling stock project or bid
- Act as the design authority for all elements concerning functional integration to ensure functional architecture fulfills requirements and design integrity.
- Assist/ Support Chief Engineer to report functional architecture project progress, risks and key performance indicators (KPI).
- Participates to customer and internal design reviews. Represents the functional architecture team in the engineering project core team.
- Manage the functional architecture team with respect to capacity and workload. Develop talent insight (such as critical competencies, identification of high potentials, capacity to grow levels, successors to critical roles)
The Candidate
To succeed in this role, you will need to be an experienced Systems Electrical Engineer with over 8-years' experience in a high integrity engineering environment. You will have an objective, resourceful mindset with the willingness to learn and develop your existing skills.
Essentials
- A minimum of 8-years' experience in a Systems Engineering role, in a high integrity engineering environment (such as Aerospace, Automotive, Oil & Gas or Rail)
- Strong experience with Control Systems / Mechanical integration
- Experience in software and electrical engineering design
- Knowledge and experience of reliability techniques
- Experience of System Integration
- Excellent communication skills
- A demonstrable track record of managing multiple engineering projects from design to implementation
