Training Specialist (Electrical Control)

Purpose of the Job

The Training Specialist is a professional subject matter expert responsible for planning, developing, delivering and evaluating Rail for London Infrastructure (RfLI) maintenance training programmes, to enable the mobilisation of a competent workforce in 2018 and ongoing maintenance of competence thereafter. This roe will focus on the development and delivery of railway safety training to contractors and RfLI staff.

Principal Accountabilities

Develop training & assessment (including: eLearning, classroom learning and simulations) to ensure both organisational and individual needs are met.

Deliver and adapt training using a range of different interactive methods (including coaching & mentoring) to ensure the learner is at the centre of the learning process.

Undertaking accurate, reliable and fair assessments and development of competence action plans to ensure learners meet required standards.

Monitor technical compliance and continuous development of learners, assuring the maintenance and development of a high performing workforce.

Work closely with and provide support to other RfLI in order to meet the demands of the operating strategy

Manage the development and delivery of all RfLI safety training to RfLI, either via direct delivery or via contract management, to ensure RfLI can safety access the Central Operating Section (CCOS) in line with the CCOS Rules.

Support the development of the RfLI throughout the staged opening of the Network, including the bringing into use of the Route ensuring safe & efficient operations.

Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected in the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working to Target Zero principles.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Competent to deliver Network Rail, London Underground (or equivalent) railway safety training (eg, Courses listed on Sentinel)

Registered withed the National Skills Academy for Rail as the railway safety trainer (or equivalent)

Professional training & assessment qualifications are desirable (for example, certificate in the life long learning sector (CTTLS) or certificate in assessing vocational achievement (CAVA))

Knowledge in railway related engineering competencies, in particular railway maintenance

Knowledge of procedures relating to the competence management of Safety Critical Work

Knowledge of railways or other regulated industries

Skills

Interpersonal and organisational skills

Experience of developing & designing railway safety training

Experience of delivering Network Rail, London Underground (or equivalen)t railway safety training (eg, Courses listed on Sentinel)

Experience of designing learner centred training in an OfSted or equivalent environments

Experience in the management of stakeholders

Experience of delivering training or assessments

Experience of working flexible to meet business needs

Experience of working with a rail environment or regulated industry
