JOB DESCRIPTION
CAF is one of the international market leaders in the design, manufacture, maintenance and supply of equipment and components for rail systems with presence across the globe in all continents. In the UK market we are present for more than a decade and now we are expanding exponentially through a corporate holding and two differentiated business units: rolling stock and rail services. CAF Rolling Stock UK, Ltd has an assembly facility in Newport (Wales) with a workforce of around 200 staff.
The Assembly Engineer is responsible for planning, discussing and completing reports about the final assembly of trains at destination. He/she ensures the staff follows company and government policies and procedures, while manufacturing quality products. The Assembly Engineer sets goals and meets target dates, completes paperwork daily related to the assembly, and communicates with other departments in implementing new company policies.
The role will be based in Manchester but during your initial, you will receive a training of approximately 2 months in the headquarters in Spain (Beasain).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures that the assembly process is in line with the policies and procedures of CAF Group
Handles costs efficiently and sees to quality and safety throughout the manufacturing process
Coordinates logistics in order for the technicians to couple the units / cars locally
Manages the technicians who are working on the trains Coordinates the outcome of the inspections done by the client to the team of technicians
Performs modifications and adjustments (both electrical and technical) on the new trains and new units if needed
Ensure personal compliance with all HSE legislation and HSE Company
policy
Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance at all times
Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager
Other ad-hoc duties and special projects as required

REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED ACADEMIC SKILLS:
University degree in Electric-Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering. Level 6 of NQF/QCF
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years of experience in a similar position in production, experience in the railway industry would be an advantage.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
LANGUAGES: English, Spanish would be a plus
