Our Client, an Engineering and Construction business, now has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant E&P Engineer to be based in York on a permanent basis to provide design support for all E&P design works within the business.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Work as part of an assigned design team having the ability to design simple E&P schemes in line with their own competency, ensuring that all project elements are delivered safely, on time, and to budget.
• Starting to learn the ability to solve engineering problems effectively and, challenge the remit, thus enabling the development of robust engineering solutions in order to provide Network Rail and other clients with the best engineering solution
• Able to follow assigned workload efficiently within the E&P design team for the project requirements whether this is for site surveys or detailed design.
• A basic appreciation and understanding of other disciplines influencing E&P design this being either signalling, telecoms, Pway, OLE or Civils.
• Ensure technical compliance is maintained at all times within the works undertaken where competency permits, otherwise having the ability to seek mentorship.
• Support the Design Engineers as required in the preparation of technical, cost and programme information to support project/bids if asked to do so.

Key skills/experience:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an E&P design office.
• A working knowledge of relevant British standards/ BS7671 / 17/18TH Edition wiring regulations/Railway Group standards/Network Rail standards plus an understanding of LUL standards is desirable.
• A reasonably good working knowledge of Autocad/Microstation/ProjectWise/Hevacomp/Amtech/DIALux and all relevant software packages, IT literate.
• An awareness of SHEA (Safety, Health, Environment & Assurance) requirements.
• Knowledge and understanding of the design process.
• A Basic appreciation of the BIM philosophy.
