Samuel Knight are working with a global manufacturer in the rail industry who are seeking an experienced Bill of Materials (BoM) Engineer.

The succesdufll candidate will join their business near Milton Keynes to ensure Part numbers and BOM's are created within PLM system, controlled and updated within the MRP system throughout the associated production.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

• Identify existing Part numbers for parts & materials from existing drawings, specifications and new designs
• Review and update usage of Conditional parts for contracts during production stages in MRP system.
• Use version control to manage amendments to parts and BoM’s within PLM system.
• Communicate with engineers and project managers on material / engineering changes and opportunities.
• Assist Production staff with catalogue number & part number identification.
• Communicate with Project managers and buyers to ensure materials are ordered in line with project and production plans.
• Ensure quality and safety compliance with all materials used. Obtain COSHH and product data sheets for new substances and request Initial COSHH assessments.
• Work in project teams to create and develop Parts and BoM’s for Standard Work.
• Communicate with commercial, designers, engineers, and buyers in preparing BOM’s for new tenders.
• Manage and Communicate elements of Engineering Change in accordance with Change Control Procedure.
• Manage and Communicate elements of Engineering Change for purchased parts.
• Create and maintain BOM's using workshop manuals, customer specifications, schedule of finishes, production drawings and personal & production staff experience within PLM system.
• Conform to all Business and Engineering Procedure.
• Create new part numbers in accordance with Part numbering Procedure within PLM system.

Education Requirements

• HNC Electrical/Mechanical (or working towards it)
• Higher Level Apprenticeship (or working towards it)
