About the job
To be the accountable to the Rail Engineering Manager with responsibilities reported to the
Contracts Manager for the day-to-day management support and development of GRIP stages 3 and 7 on assigned projects.

Provide technical expertise, support and advice on all GRIP Stage 3 and 7.

Support ECI process on projects where options development and appraisal is required by the client.

Liaison with client, CEM, CRE Civils, DPE, designer and other CRE disciplines as required.

Review the Construction Phase Plan and any Work Package Plan methodology and risk mitigation measures.

Ensure discipline design or construction complies with current applicable standards, legislative requirements and specification.

Review all designs for temporary and permanent works for submission to the client

Ensure that GRIP deliverables are to the correct standard and are provided within the required timescales for client review

Manage the programme of deliverables and report to the Contracts Manager

Contribute to project feasibility and option development phases on assign projects.

Maintain technical knowledge and status in line with post.

Organise and participate in interdisciplinary design check meetings

Provide support for tender processes including review of pre-tender information, planning, estimating and quality submissions.

Compliance with the Construction (Design) Management Regulations 2015 and the Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006.

Identify any proposals for improving environmental sustainably or safety performance in regard to construction methodology.
The Requirements to be an Assistant Contracts Manager;
-
Civil Engineering, preferably to Chartered Status.

At least six years’ relevant experience in a construction or project management role, within the railway industry.

Knowledge of the GRIP Process.

Excellent leadership, communication and IT skills.

Relevant CSCS card.
The remuneration for the Assistant Contracts Manager role is as follows;

Salary is dependent on experience

25 days’ holiday +bank holiday (this will increase with service)
