MPI are currently recruiting for a Desiro City Support Engineer, who will normally be based at Hornsey (but attendance to other South East locations and Germany wil be required as necessary)

The start of the contract is immediate for 6 Months with the possibility of it being extended. with a competitive rate of pay the normal working hours are 9am to 5pm, but flexibility expected.

The ideal candidate will have completed an electrical / mechanical apprenticeship / engineering degree.

At least 5 years working within the Railway Engineering sector, and it is preferred that the candidate will have spent time in a technical office rathan than just shop floor.

Role Purpose:

Our Customer is currently introducing the Class 700 fleet to the network with acceptance progressing until the middle of 2018. Additionally throughout 2018 the Class 717 fleet of 25 x 6 car units is being introduced to the Great Northern route to replace the Class 313 units operating in and out of the Moorgate tunnels. The Class 717 units will be maintained at Hornsey Depot.

In order to support the engineering work streams for these two projects, our Customer is looking for suitable engineer(s) to provide an initial 6 months of engineering support on the fleets (this may be extended).

The ideal candidate would be expected to support engineering activities on the Class 700 fleet in respect of engineering change and on the Class 717 fleet in respect of fleet introduction, such as document reviews, engineering approvals, technical investigations and asset support for the fleet and depot.

The core work location would be Hornsey depot, but the candidate would also have to travel around sites in the South East of the UK and Germany as required.

The ideal candidate needs to have a strong standing in new train technology and experience in electrical, mechanical and software engineering change on rolling stock.

They must also clearly understand the duty holder responsibilities within engineering change and be able to undertake detailed technical review and risk assessment.
