Purpose of the Job
To support the project in providing EMC technical support to the Head of Bulk Power and the Lead MEP Engineer by the technical and assurance review of design and construction documents that are presented to Gates.

Principal Accountabilities
Supporting the project in relation to:
-Act as the Principle Engineer on all EMC related matters
-Developing, reviewing and managing the implementation of EMC Management Plans across the programme
-Supporting the contracts in the integration of power systems with respect to EMC on all
MEP plant equipment and Rail Systems
-Providing technical support for the effects of EMI on electronic equipment from rapid and high voltage switching systems-
-Providing support to other directorates in the discipline area
-Identifying and managing technical risk in the discipline area across the programme
-Checking the appropriate discipline support is provided to liaison with external stakeholders

Providing discipline support to check that the Chief Engineer's team deliver or manage delivery of the design and engineering both internal and external parties in the programme through site based Engineering Managers
-Checking that design solutions are carried through into the construction and commissioning phases to deliver an appropriately specified and correctly engineered railway
-Checking the application of technical excellence, value and consistency are delivered during the design development, procurement and construction phases, to the extent possible
-Checking that engineering technical considerations are not compromised in the decision making process for any changes being considered to the extent possible

Chartered qualification in Electrical Engineering or an associated discipline
-Experience of and successful track record in a similar role on a major rail or infrastructure project
-Good level of experience in the design, construction or management of railway EMC
works
-A comprehensive understanding of the issues affecting the provision of EMC on a major railway project
-Value management techniques and the achievement of value for money
-Good knowledge of contracting strategies
-Good knowledge of value techniques and the achievement of value for money
-Comprehensive understanding of the management of consultants and staff
-Excellent inter-personal skills with proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplined management team
-Excellent written and oral presentation and communication skills
