Electronics - Instrumentation Field Engineer, perm based in Derby, £30-40,000 dependant on exp

The client business is a well established consultancy offering specialist / unique engineering and test support services to the UK rail sector. The opportunity will allow your skills be they from rail, automotive, aero, defence etc to be part of this unique service offering and expose you to some of the rail industries high profile projects as well as long standing programmes of work.

Duties

Key Accountabilities Include:

* Assist in the development of new testing and monitoring equipment,
* Assist with the contribution to engineering work associated with the performance evaluation, development and commissioning of new vehicles, infrastructure, systems and components
* Assist in vehicle and component commissioning
* Assist in the development of new testing and monitoring equipment,
* Assist with instrumentation/equipment selection and preparation,
* Assist in the identification of measurement equipment faults and defects and contribute to their rectification,
* Providing technician support for development and delivery projects.
* Assist with preparation of vehicles, components etc for engineering projects and test work, including the construction of specialist equipment

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

* Technical qualification related to the role (not necessarily degree qualified)
* Proven knowledge of instrumentation (sensors, data comms and data capture)
* Knowledge of PC/Windows to support data capture software integration
* Basic understanding of electronics, systems and high voltages
* Ability to fault find and design/repair electronics
* Ability to build bespoke small enclosure solutions and wiring harnesses for test programmes
* Ability to work alone or as part of a small team
* Can-do attitude to complete tasks in a timely manner
* Ability to manage priorities and run multiple project support tasks
* Good communication skills and experience of talking with Customers
* Willing to occasionally go to site to support projects (may be unsocial hours)
* Knowledge of railways/rolling stock an advantage but as stated we will give serious consideration to none rail related instrumentation experience.
