Field Engineer - CBTC Installer in London, London, United Kingdom

Primary Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the CBTC Lead Field Engineer, you will be one of the CBTC Field Engineers responsible for supporting the technical integrity of the CBTC system installation.

Your area of responsibility specifically relates to the legacy interface and CBTC Migration Area completion scopes of installation work in coordination with the Installation Technical Manager and the Installation Subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Responsible for supporting the technical assessment of onsite Installation Subcontractor queries alongside the other CBTC Field Engineers.
  • Responsible for supporting the Installation Subcontractor with the reporting of installation queries.
  • Responsible for reporting technical installation errors to the CBTC Lead Field Engineer.
  • Support the technical assessment of design modifications.
  • Support in the reporting of subcontractor installation progress.
  • Support in the co-ordination of any interface between multiple Installation Subcontractors.
  • Ensure all assigned work is completed to schedule, to budget (agreed hours) and to quality.
  • Ensure that monitoring and tracking procedures are followed and maintained at all times.
  • Develop and implement new strategies to better process.
  • Ensure that all the technical information has been distributed to the right people within the team and to the subcontractors.
  • Assist Installation Project Managers in the execution of the installation strategy by managing the subcontractors accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Standardisation of site installation and testing techniques to ensure industry best practice is established and maintained. Ensure the technical work is standardised and consistent across all Migration Areas and Subcontractors.
  • Ensure rework cycles are minimised and lessons learnt deployed.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and manage the change as appropriate.
  • Ensure all reporting requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.

Skills

  • Strong Installation background.
  • Excellent IT skills: email, MS Word, MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Experience

  • Experience of the JNUP within the Installation department: wayside, SER or SCC works, or a combination of these.
  • Experience of working to and understanding signalling & mechanical design.
