My client, who runs one of the major airports in the UK is currently looking to recruit a number of field engineers to join their team.
Role Overview
Assigned to a field construction organisation in a supervisory role, monitoring the contractor's works on site. The Field Engineer reports to the Senior Field Engineer and is responsible for the monitoring of construction and related activities within an assigned area of responsibility. The successful candidates will coordinate with the client representatives on site activities and shall be responsible to ensure assigned site operations are conducted in a safe manner, in compliance with design/specifications to the client's quality expectations and completed on schedule.
Principal Accountabilities
Provide input to the project programme on technical activities. Reviews contractor Construction, Design & Management (CDM), Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) submittals (including construction phase plans, risk assessments, method statements and work permits) and monitors compliance against accepted plans - takes immediate action if work poses threat to personnel, equipment, property, etc.
Conducts regular safety surveillance inspections and tours on their projects and ensures that any issues are closed in a timely manner.
Reviews Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) with regard to the frequency and type (i.e. Hold or Witness point) of inspections for each stage in an ITP.
Inspects work within their relevant discipline to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, the clients standards and statutory regulations and requests the services of a third-party inspection/testing agency to perform inspection or tests for verification purposes, if necessary.
Ensures that the SFE and other team members are kept fully informed of the status of works on site and any issues that arise.
Prepare a Daily Construction Report to document the status of the contractor's works on their associated projects.
Shall ensure that the as-built installation of Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) services and other installations, are accurately recorded by the contractor and this information is successfully transferred over to the client according to their requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Good understanding of Environment, Health & Safety in Construction.
A Higher National Diploma (HND) qualification and/or membership with a recognised professional organisation is preferred. (Prior experience may be suitable replacement in lieu of HND qualification and/or membership with a recognised professional organisation).
Good understanding of construction techniques & constructability issues.
Good working knowledge of basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is a requirement.
Coordinates multi-discipline contractor activities within the assigned project.
Supports the lead personnel of the different functions, i.e., Construction, Engineering, Quality, and Project Controls.
