Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment specialists are looking for a Field support engineer to work for a highly regarding engineering company with the rail industry

The Role:

Working as part of the after-sales team, the role will involve the successful candidate travelling to client's sites to maintain in service systems, this role has a strong focus on software commissioning and testing of live equipment both in the office and on site. When travelling to and from client sites, all travel and expenses are covered, including overnight stays when required.

Main Responsibilities of the role, are as followed:

• Performing complex calibration and commissioning activities on site
• Fault finding, debugging and analysis of software issues on live systems
• Implementing systems in C++ and assisting with their integration into existing software packages.
• Performing data analysis and developing analysis/test tools in Python to support general activities
• Previous experience of carrying out experiments in system automation
• Developing and maintaining software documentation (requirements, design, test, manuals etc) providing industry support for equipment/system automation and control in railway applications.
• Capturing user requirements and creating technical specifications and software test plans.
• Meeting deadlines and effectively managing competing demands in a team environment.

Essential Requirements

• An Engineering degree from a UK University with relevant experience in software development, or qualification of equivalent standard from a UK or overseas university.
• Experienced in development of software systems ideally within the Rail, Automotive, Aviation or Defence Industry
• Expert knowledge and experience of C++ and Python
• Previous experience working with a customer facing role

• Category B Driver's License in accordance with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA)
