Job title: Fleet Engineer - Rail
Job location: Derby
Contract Rate: £Negotiable DOE
Contract Duration: Six Months
To provide professional engineering support to the regional fleet of vehicles. Ensuring that the regional fleets of trains are maintained and operated in a safe working condition at all times. Accountable for ensuring that all maintenance procedures are adequately prepared and provide the most cost effective regimes possible. Looking at continuous improvement of the technical performance of the regional fleet.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Investigate and review all safety related events and NIRs relevant to the fleet and ensure that appropriate action is taken to maintain safe operation of the fleet
Control all modifications and engineering changes, ensuring that all relevant documentation and approvals processes are correctly carried out.
Ensure that all maintenance manuals and associated documents are up to date, legible, concise and at all times provide the necessary information required to maintain the regional fleet
Ensure delivery of the full life care of the regional fleet is carried out including delivery of classified repairs and other mandated requirements, working closely with the vehicle owners to ensure best value from our lease contracts
Analyse statistical information and ensure that adequate measurements exists for both train safety and fleet technical performance. Set up and monitor suitable KPIs for all key areas. Prepare recommendations to support fleet safety and performance improvements through investment cases in terms of life cycle cost reduction.
Report root cause of technical investigations and action plans to all levels within the business to continuously improve training modules, systems knowledge, fault finding and maintenance standards
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Chartered Engineer, member of either the Institution of Mechanical Engineers or Institution of Electrical Engineers or qualifications leading to chartered status
Minimum 5 years experience managing in a technical/development environment - ideally within rail and rolling stock
Computer literate and familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
