Ford and Stanley - The Digital Rail Specialists are looking to recruit a Test & Commissioning Engineer for their Prestigious UK Client

The Role

Due to continued growth and success in 2018, my client is looking to recruit a Field Network Engineer that is looking to move into the rail industry and train to become an Installation Commissioning engineer.

You will be responsible for the installation and testing of Routers and switches on major rail projects across the UK. All travel and accommodation will be covered by my client.

Key Responsibilities and Knowledge Requirements

• Assist in the installation, test and commission activities on a range of telecoms related assets
• To test services to agreed test specifications/test plans and provide results to the TIC.
• Technical competence in SDH, PDH, TDM, DWDM, IP Switch and Router, MPLS and VLAN equipment install, configuration, test and faulting techniques including a proficient use of all relevant test equipment.
• Experience in Commissioning extensive telecoms networks in a project environment,
• Understanding of LAN and WAN
• Copper termination - MDF,IDF and DDF multicore copper or co axial, CAT 5/6 install and terminate
• Optical Fibre - cable preparation, splicing and OTDR operation including result analysis

The Candidate

• Effective report writing and recording of test results.
• Good understanding of the company health and safety standards and those of the relevant client.
• The ability to evaluate, judge and decide on options effectively and accountably.
• Ability and drive to supervise, coach and mentor aspiring members of the team.
• Act as an ambassador to the company when interacting with external interfaces
• CCNA Qualified
• Strong written and Spoken command of the English language
• 5+ industry experience in the installation of Routers and Switches
• Excellent customer-facing skills
• Ability to work self-managed as well as part of a team
• Full Uk Driving License Required
