The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the interface management process functions effectively within the project area. This may include interface agreements between teams, clearly defined responsibilities in contracts, and ensuring that interface issues are handled and closed. They will organize the resolution of complex problem involving different technical disciplines and will lead cross-disciplines checks to ensure successful IDR and IDC.
Missions & Main Activities
We are currently expanding in the UK and Ireland, growing our business and our team. One of the exciting projects the Interface Engineer will work on relates to the execution of the Birmingham tramway network extension contract. The aim of this once-renewable five-year contract is to construct 4 km of new line in the coming three years (three extensions) and an additional 15 km in the following five years (one additional line).
Our rapid expansion includes working with West Midland Combined Authority in a partnership agreement called "The Midland Metro Alliance" which brings together the Prime Contractor, the Construction Consortium and the Engineering Office and leading The Design Manage Service for Network Rail.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Interface management:
- Implement all necessary monitoring tools to allow an optimum technical coordination between the different discipline (Track, Highways, Structures, Systems, Urban realm).
- Identify and follow-up technical requirements to be fulfilled in the project.
- Develop workable action plans to ensure that the project scope and associated tasks are perfectly defined between disciplines, that the Interface management is active, understood and visible.
- Develop and maintain relevant KPIs to track progress and any issues.
- Work with all disciplines to ensure consistency in technical decisions across the programme.
- Ensure the successful organization of the IDR and IDC milestones
- Organise the coordination between the Design, Construction & Estimating teams at early stages.
- Support stakeholders and the engineering and project management teams, as required.
- Oversee change requests and modifications and facilitate communication with all relevant disciplines.
- During the construction stage, implement and monitor the interface procedures between the Design and the Construction teams.
Team coordination:
- Support the successful delivery of all design elements on time and within budget, from concept to handover.
- Support with regards to Technical knowledge capitalisation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant BSc or equivalent qualification
- Relevant experience in the rail sector and/or interface management
- A clear understanding of a multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stage gates.
- Has good understanding of all relevant BIM standards, design procedures and relevant legislation.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams; high attention to detail
- Strong team player.
- Knowledge and experience within a construction team will be considered a plus.
