L&E Inspection Engineer in London, London, United Kingdom
We are currently recruiting for an L&E Inspection Engineer to provide expert technical knowledge and specialised practical skills to carry out inspection and testing of lifts and escalator machinery, experience of lift maintenance and installation is required. To carry out twice annual safety inspection on all LUL L&E assets. To act as the L&E professional head's representative on site and at vendors premises, while testing and commissioning the assets and their subcomponents. Manage suppliers for testing and commissioning requirements on site and in supplier visits. To audit assets and suppliers for compliance to systems and technical requirements.
The Key Accountabilities of the L&E Inspection Engineer will be as follows:
- The post holder exercises expert knowledge and judgement to establish the fitness for use of Lifts and escalators (and their component parts) during site inspection activities.
- To manage suppliers during the testing, commissioning and witnessing of assets at key stages of installation.
- Audit suppliers against system compliance and technical requirements on site and in the factory environments.
- Check installations with the purpose of validating design requirements and adherence to LUL standards.
- To act as L&E professional head's representative for accident investigation.
- Liaising with suppliers and other discipline areas for site coordination and control.
- To provide ad-hoc technical advice and support to APD maintenance Managers.
- Carry out annual condition assessments for lifts and escalators and produce engineering reports, examining wear and standards of maintenance to assist London Underground to determine investment priorities.
The Skills,knowledge and experience expected of the L&E Inspection Engineer will be as follows:
- BTEC, HND, HNC in an appropriate mechanical or electrical discipline.
- NALM, LEIA trained.
- NVQ level 3 or above in lift maintenance.
- Ability to plan own work as requirement to work flexible shifts i.e. nights, days and weekends at short notice.
- Comprehensive understanding of BS-EN 81 parts 1&2, BS-EN 115, PM 45, SAFed, LUL standards and specifications.
- Computer literate for report writing and analysis of performance database.
- Clear written and oral communication (technically biased) with staff of all levels.
- 5-10 years experience of lifts, with a working knowledge of the different types of assets, their locations, manufacturers and maintainers.
This contract is in the oublic sector and so will need to be set up on an umbrella or PAYE basis, not limited companies of PSC's are allowed.
