Principal Engineers are responsible for the technical delivery of engineering and are experts in their chosen discipline, in this case Railway Overhead Line Electrification. A Principal Engineer may be involved in the delivery of engineering on live projects, engaged in work winning or technical development.

In this role, the Principal Engineer will report to a Senior Engineering Manager or Engineering Manager. The Principal Engineer may be appointed as the “Contractors Responsible Engineer” (CRE) or the Project Manager of a design project as the need arises.

Your Accountabilities:

• To act safely and work to eliminate hazards at source
• Provide deliverables and a service that satisfies safety and quality requirements
• Produce calculations, drawings and supple the associated service
• Direct personnel as required
• Lead the production of investigations, reports and specifications
• Ensure activity is in compliance with relevant technical, professional and group standards
• Ensure project change is fully managed, implemented and recorded
• Ensure work is undertaken using formal processes and procedures
• Manages and records time and provides time estimates for projects/packages
• Defines and manages change to scope of work
• Focal point for liaison with clients engineering representatives
