Role: Principal / Technical Director Ports and Maritime Engineering
Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow
Salary: £47,500 - £67,500

I am looking to place a Principal Engineer with extensive experience of Ports / Maritime projects in an international engineering consultancys Edinburgh or Glasgow office. The role will have an international remit, with Capital Project schemes of values between £5 million and £1 billion. Previous projects include fertiliser, petrochem and mineral port/jetty facilities, infrastructure for new-build Nuclear power stations, container terminals, Ro-Ro terminals, man-made artificial islands, coastal defence schemes, MOD naval bases, and more.
You will collaborate with, and lead, team members across multiple offices in the UK and abroad. The firm has an engineering legacy of over a century and operates from more than 300 locations across the Globe with operations across the UK, EMEIA, North + South America, Asia and Australia.
You will likely be a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer (ICE or IStructE) with significant experience of working on port and maritime projects. You will also be experienced in working as a part of multidisciplinary teams and be comfortable interfacing with Mechanical/Building Services engineers. You will be able to provide both technical and operational leadership with a strong background in technical design as well as experience of developing / supporting other staff.
You will have the opportunity to oversee large-scale Ports and Maritime projects for their entire lifecycle, from conception, design, construction and eventual maintenance or handover. You will also be able to support upgrade programmes through your asset inspection experience. You will be supporting global infrastructure programmes in the maritime, transportation, energy and defence sectors leaving a legacy for decades to come.

Role Requirements:
- Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer (ICE/IStructE)
- Technical design experience of ports / maritime projects
- Structural assessment / inspection / construction experience of ports / maritime projects
- British Standards / Eurocodes / International codes experience
- Operational leadership experience Team leadership, Client management, Bid preparation
- Health and Safety management planning experience
