ABOUT THE ROLE
Railway Electrification Engineer functions will include:
• Leading the definition of technical solutions according to system requirements.
• Coordinate the technicians assigned to the project for other areas (platform, track, electrification), ensuring compliance with specifications and deadlines.
• Supervise the technical solutions and designs to ensure the correct definition
• To follow up and control the development of the project, as well as to maintain technical control of the project.
• Participate in the preparation of bids for future signage projects."
• The successful candidate will be required to undertake detailed design work alongside coordinating and managing projects internally, providing supervision and technical support as required to other engineering staff, and externally with clients managing deliverables, programme and quality.
• International travel is an essential part of this role so candidates must be acceptant of this requirement before applying. All candidates must be available for travel and able to stay abroad depending on the needs of the project.

DUTIES
• Assessing project requirements.
• Directing/undertaking technical and feasibility studies taking account of their impact on final engineering solutions.
• Developing detailed designs and managing the preparation of engineering drawings and specifications based on project requirements.
• Communicate and liaise effectively with colleagues, architects, subcontractors, other engineers, consultants, and clients.
• Determine and manage budgets, project schedules, scopes of work and other project resources.
• Compile, check, review and approve project documentation including reports, drawings and specifications.
• Manage deliverables on time and within budget.
• Adhere to the best practices, standards and procedures of the company.

Communication
• Good verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical features of a design to non-technical project members and clients.
• Professional presentation and self-motivated, with the ability to build rapport with other members of the team and clients.
• Summarise and interpret complex, conceptual and special matters to aid others understanding.
• Fluent English speaker with good communication skills for liaising with clients, colleagues.
• Excellent standard of written English required for writing of factual and interpretative reports.
• The ability to communicate in Spanish both verbally and in writing will be assessed.
Experience
• Experience of railway electrification design to current industry standards.
• Ability to work individually as well as being a part of the team, including the ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team spread across multiple offices, both nationally and internationally.
• Able to undertake OLE and 3rd Rail design both AC and DC.
• Able to undertake Traction Substation Design both AC and DC.
• Able to undertake the role of Contractors responsible Engineer (CRE) or equivalent.
• Experience of EMC/EMI and stray current control
Knowledge
• Knowledge of the UK BIM Standards (BIM Level 2)
• Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 402/2013 CMS-RA
• European Interoperability Regulations
Management
• Experience of work planning including the scheduling of resources to successfully meet competing demands.
• Experience of applying project management techniques and successful completion of project plans.
• Experience in quality assurance procedures, records management and supporting groups e.g. drafting reports and minutes.
Qualification
• Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or work experience in a relevant area.
• A full current and valid driving licence (which must be made available for inspection to check entitlements and/or penalty points).
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Experience
• Experience in the design of railway installations both in the railway and metro sectors.
Knowledge
• Knowledge of the UK BIM Standards (BIM Level 2).
Software
• Experience working within Common Data Environments (ProjectWise, BIM360, Aconex, etc).
• Use of AutoCAD. Desirable experience with OpenRail or PROL (Bentley) and Revit.
