Rolling Stock Technical Support Engineer

You will be instrumental in the continuous improvement of Rolling Stock Performance in Scotland.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
This Global OEM provide expertise and technology in rolling stock, rail infrastructure, traffic solutions and infrastructure logistics to the UK transport industry.
ABOUT YOU
You will have a Rolling Stock background, and understand the fundamentals of Train Maintenance and reliability. You will be working closely with the customer to carry out highly technical and indepth fault finding, you'll also write techincal reports concerning your findings. With you expertise, you'll be able to provide advise on how to prevent and future faults or failures.
This role will provide you with the skills to understand rolling stock reliability trends further, and your analyse perforamnce data.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Technical Engineer role includes; generating solutions for identified technical issues and customer variation enquiries, providing up to date maintenance instructions by responding to technical documentation enquiries and provide technical guidance to the depot production teams. The Technical Engineer will also undertake mentoring and coaching of maintenance technicians within the team.The role is to investigate all in-service delays and casualties for the fleet and liaise with internal departments and external suppliers in identifying root cause failures for defect systems and components
- Complete engineering issues and tasks allocated through the Technical Issues database.
- Support discussions with suppliers as required to exchange technical failure information and potential solutions.
- Develop and document solutions to address and improve safety, reliability and availability.
- Develop solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of maintenance via review and update of Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMIs) and Procedures (VMPs).
- Develop cost effective solutions in line with relevant national and railway industry safety standards.
- Identify further opportunities to improve reliability and reduce life cycle costs of the fleet by application of RCM techniques
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- ONC / HNC qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering experience in a railway / rolling stock environment
- Knowledge of railway maintenance techniques and procedures.
- Demonstrate railway systems knowledge including reading mechanical and electrical drawings, systematic fault finding and problem identification.
- Ability to analyse train borne event and fault diagnostic systems
