We are currently seeking a Rolling Stock Engineer to join the heart of the UK’s largest rail infrastructure project, Crossrail.

As the Rolling Stock Engineer you’ll provide engineering support to the Rolling Stock and Depot (RS&D) team within Crossrail.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on Compliance and Interface issues between the rolling stock, infrastructure and the three signalling systems employed.
• Support all Rolling Stock activities in respect of achieving the Earliest Opening Programme (EOP) for passenger service, for stages 2 and 3 and subsequently stages 4 and 5.
• Represent the Rolling Stock Engineering Manager; Head of Rolling Stock at meetings as required.
• Support the Rolling Stock Engineering Manager in the development and documentation of interfaces between rolling stock and infrastructure.
• Maintain the Train/Infrastructure Interface Specification (TIIS) ensuring it is updated as necessary to reflect the agreed position between Crossrail Limited (CRL) and Network Rail (NR) regarding the rolling stock interface.
• Participate and lead the review of individual Design Technical Cases, with the objective of the rolling stock.
• Participate and lead the documentation reviews associated with the Project Wide Hazard Register (PWHR) to facilitate the allocation of risks to the various parties and to agree mitigations, so that risks can be closed out on PWHR.
• Review contractors’ detailed designs for Driver Only Operation (DOO) installations at stations, expediting the reconciliation of conflicting requirements and ensuring compatibility with the overall system provided by the rolling stock supplier.

About You:

• Degree qualified engineer/ or working towards is preferable
• Hold, or be working towards, a professional qualification in civil engineering, rolling stock engineering (mechanical or electrical) or an associated discipline is preferable
• Good knowledge of development, design and/or implementation of major projects.
• Good knowledge of railway operation and railway signalling.
• Good understanding of traction power systems and rolling stock energy efficiency.
• Good knowledge of Railway Group Standards, Technical Specifications for Interoperability and other laws and standards applicable to rolling stock and its interfaces with infrastructure.
• Understanding of project control processes.
• Understanding of cost management and contracts.

Location: Endeavour Square, Stratford

Rate: Negotiable (role falls inside IR35 and so any successful candidate will have to operate via an umbrella solution)
