Ford and Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are working closely with one of Britain's leading rolling stock leasing companies as they are seeking to recruit a Fleet Engineer. Following further investment in their fleets this new role is created to support the business by delivering day to day management of a specific DMU fleet.

The Opportunity

The position of Fleet Engineer ensure that vehicles are maintained and developed to meet operational requirements throughout their planned life. This will involve handling a wide range of engineering issues, including the recommendation and management of modifications to improve vehicle reliability and safety.

The role will involve close working with customers and suppliers and require experience of rolling stock, appreciation of railway group standards, vehicle maintenance and overhaul knowledge and awareness of safety case and certification issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsibility for the management of this fleet following delivery; ensuring that the assets are managed safely for their required operation throughout their planned life;
• Investigation of incidents to ensure fleet safety, leading to the development and implementation of improvements;
• Reliability improvement initiatives including technical modifications and changes for improved maintenance regimes;
• Provide fleet engineering services and support the business functions in dealing with fleet maintenance, development and technical issues.

It is likely that the successful candidate will be educated to HNC, HND or degree level, be chartered (or be working towards such status) and also have rolling stock engineering knowledge.
