ROLE TITLE Section Engineer (Foundations)
FUNCTION Reporting to the OLE Foundations Senior Section Engineer and supporting the Rail Electrification business unit.
ROLE PURPOSE As a Section Engineer you will be one of the team involved in the installation of OLE foundations on the project
You will have a broad knowledge of the relevant rail standards and be familiar with the
Already experienced a Senior Engineer/CRE, you will have an appreciation of OLE systems, with specific competency with the construction of foundations in a railway environment
You must be able to understand and follow key processes and be able to give clear direction and follow instructions given by line management.
You will be able to think for yourself and solve problems in the field while ensuring all issues and work completion is reported clearly and correctly in the assigned format. Deliver work packages to agreed budgets.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assist and support the Construction Manager ensuring project compliance with statutory legislation, Network Rail Group and Company Standards, and Company management systems, processes and procedures.
- Adhere to and brief out SSOW packs and Task Briefs in line with the standards and the relevant project Work Package Plan(s)
- Ensure that adequate site access and welfare facilities are provided for all work activities and used correctly
- Responsible for ensuring that the ground disturbance procedure / permit to dig is strictly adhered to records kept accordingly
- Interface between the design activities and construction activities – ensuring all works are constructed in accordance with approved designs.
- Plan and assist in the coordination/integration of works between 3rd parties and other OLE teams.
- To supervise, monitor and interpret the contract design documents of the contract.
- Input into the design development process.
- Produce and manage inspection and test plans across the construction works. Including undertaking of Engineers installation inspections.
- Complete Red line drawings and ensure accuracy of As Built issued drawings.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to other engineers within the team.
- Have a clear understanding of engineering tolerances on the contract and communicate these to the team.
- Anticipate and resolve technical issues, including the raising of technical queries.
- Coordinate geotechnical investigation works.
- Hand over and Hand back of completed works to client.

- Deliver project to cost, programme and specification
- Monitor and control costs
- Identify resources and sub-contractors to enable project delivery
- Lead, manage and motivate Engineers, supervisors and team
- Interface with design and estimators throughout project
- Monitor, update and amend plans as and when required
- Review and Progress variations with QS and incorporate into plan
- Manage client relationships
- Carry out safety, quality and technical inspections
- Plan, produce and deliver safety briefings
- Produce and approve risk assessments and method statements
- Produce internal and external reports
- Develop innovative solutions to challenges.
- Be able to read and understand the relevant cross sections and layouts for the delivery
- Actively manage and report any on-site changes / variations to planned site activities
- Ensure that tool box talks, task briefs and COSS briefs are carried out, recorded and archived for allocated contracts
- Ensure that all works are undertaken in accordance with the planned safe method of work working
- Manage sub-contractors, contract staff and direct labour
- Carry out and review performance reviews, administer poor performance, attendance and disciplinary procedures when required
- The role is one of senior supervision and based generally in a site environment
- It is a requirement of the role to attend site on a regular basis (including night time)
- Hold disciplinary meeting as and when required
PERSONAL QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE The following qualities/experience are essential:
- Engineering Qualification (MEng, BEng, BSc, HNC/HND) in Civil Engineering
- Strong team worker and ability to build relationships across the team.
- A background in Civil and/or geotechnical Engineering is essential
- A broad appreciation and experience of railway OHL installation and equipment (required)
- Computer literacy – Excel, Word, Power point and Outlook (required)
- Understanding of the Railway operating environment (essential)
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence and communicate effectively with site staff and project team
- Hold PTS /IWA
- Read, understand and comment on OLE Drawings (required)
- Knowledge of HS&E requirements
- Risk assessment and method statement writing skills
- Team Briefing creation and delivery skills (required)
- Commercial and financial awareness (required)
