My Client is looking for a Structural Engineer based in the London area on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating structural engineering designs as part of a multi-disciplinary design team.
Key objectives:
- Provide appropriate levels of civil and structural design for a range of different buildings and infrastructure projects.
- To be responsible for your own ICE training and effectively manage route to chartered review process.
Principal responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the production of detailed civil and structural calculations in accordance with the relevant standards and procedures
- Be fully conversant with the basics of British Standards and Eurocodes with respect to civils and structural loading, design and specification.
- Ensure quality of delivery when producing sketches or CAD drawings to internal and/or customer standards.
- Communicate and collaborate with engineers and technicians from other disciplines, other consultants, etc.
- Ensure thorough checking and accuracy of own deliverables and record documentation in accordance with company QA procedures
- Take active responsibility for maintaining calculation and drawing records.
- Attend in-house design courses and seminars and feedback to the rest of the department if required.
- Keep up to date with ICE CPD requirements
- Excellent team ethic, and ability to work extended hours on occasions when required
- Review specialist subcontractors/suppliers production calculations and drawings for technical compliance with design intent
Technical skills and experience:
- High level proficiency of industry standard 2D/3D structural design software such as Masterseries, Tedds and Staad for example.
- “Engineer” proficiency in the use of AutoCAD 2D and 3D software.
- “Engineer” working knowledge of Autodesk REVIT.
- A good knowledge in the production of technical specifications and the ability to use NBS Building and Create.
- Good knowledge and understanding of traditional building materials, e.g. Steel, Timber, Concrete and RC and overall site wide infrastructure and earthworks.
- A keen eye for the detail of specific tasks, combined with an understanding of how such specifics fit in with the project as a whole
- Knowledge of current UK technical standards/publications and legislation requirements
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in civil or structural engineering
- Ideally aiming for MICE in the future
- Eligible to pass criteria for security clearance and airside pass applications
