Systems Engineer - Software
Cheadle
Traffic Management has been identified as a key initiative in the current Network Rail Strategic Business Plan. Traffic Management will change the way Network Rail operates and manages the GB rail network using new ways of working and technology. Through this modernisation of the railway, Traffic Management will offer a suite of decision support tools which will enable the network to run more effectively and efficiently by predicting and managing conflicts proactively rather than reactively.
The Thales Traffic Management solution takes data from a wide variety of industry standard sources, we require data engineers to ensure that the quality of the data is the world standard for rail transport.
We are recruiting for a Systems Engineer to ensure data quality, data integrity, data sourcing and data deployment into Traffic Management and supporting systems, the role will include identifying new processing techniques and methodologies, trialling new autonomous data acquisition and amalgamation systems and operational support of the live Traffic Management System.
The data you handle will be used to operate the railway 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The railway never stops, and neither do our systems or data capture and processing systems.
Interfacing with both data providers and data users, you will play a key role in defining the future of data provision and working processes post Traffic Management deployment. This is a key position within the business and we are looking for an ambitious individual to take ownership of the role, with very real opportunities for progression.
This is a full time, permanent position based in Cheadle.
