Our client is looking for an technically focused Engineer with a proven track record in rolling stock systems.
This is an influential role in improving the reliability, reputation and customer focus of our client's services. They will give you responsibility for a defined system across their fleets - you will be leading on the identification, development and implementation of a range of reliability growth initiatives.
The aim is to develop systematic, structured processes to address reliability, availability, maintainability and safety issues. Your contribution will lead to component or system modifications, specification improvements, maintenance plan improvements, or maintenance/operational process improvements.
A key element of the role is promoting strong communication across engineering and operations departments, so that reliability growth can be derived from improvements to communication and management process.
You will also work closely with train leasing companies and external suppliers, in addition to providing an effective Technical Support Service.
To excel in your role, you will need:
Educated to a minimum of HNC in a relevant engineering discipline with proven experience in a rail engineering role. You will be conversant with DC EMU rolling stock performance issues, emerging technical trends, reliability problems and safety risks.
Your experience will enable you to develop reliability solutions using structured methodology and recognised reliability growth techniques such as RCM, FMECA, RAMS, FRACAS or MSG3.
You will have the ability to develop business cases, board papers and Engineering Change documentation.
Experience in project management is desired and you should also be a logical thinker and problem solver who works well in teams and can lead others effectively.
