Technical Engineer (Rolling Stock) – Derbyshire - £60-65k
My client operates within the Rail industry and are seeking to strengthen their technical knowledge in their fleet division. This challenging role is responsible for delivery of facets of their operations, development of technical solutions and for the management of engineering change. You will be reporting in to the Head of Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide technical engineering knowledge and skills to ensure safe and efficient operation of the fleet
- To provide a deep understanding of the mechanical, electrical and pneumatic interfaces of all DMUs, EMUs and other rolling stock
- Liaising closely with the Commercial team, provide detailed technical knowledge and understanding during the assessment and development of new flows of traffic
- To assist in the sourcing of spares, parts, tooling and drawings
- Create technical files, CSM-RA, and supporting documentation for engineering change, compatibility assessments, modifications and approvals tasks
- Carry out incident investigations and create reports in accordance with internal procedures and industry standards
- Represent and ensure the company’s requirements are championed at industry meetings and all aspects of the ERTMS programme
- Provide support for commissioning and testing programmes for new traction and rolling stock
- Review and implement Network Change requests from a technical aspect, including such systems as GSM-R and other interoperable components
- Review and implement changes as required to the Rolling Stock Library, R2, National Vehicle Register, TOPS and other industry systems
About you:
- Degree Education (or demonstrable experience)
- Membership (or willingness to engage on route to membership) to IET or IME
- Demonstrable skills, qualification and experience in railway engineering
- Computer literacy on typical MS Office tools and railway mainframe systems
- Detailed knowledge of R2 and TOPS
- Understanding of business development and implementation processes.
- Willingness to travel and work away from home as required by the business
This role is based in Derby and will be paying up to £65,000 depending on experience.
